I graduated from painting greetings cards for my children and friends when joining Antonia Black’s Watercolour Workshop in the early 1980s. A Slade School of Fine Art graduate and three times Sunday Times/Singer & Friedlander award winner, Antonia provided the drive and technical stimulus to a small group of artists working mainly en plein air in Richmond Park or by the Thames at Kingston upon Thames. We exhibited our work locally and I sold my first paintings
Having made our home in Ulwell, I started to experiment with oils and, since 2009, have been exhibiting my work at PAW, either at the Mulberry Tree Gallery in Swanage, at Rolington or at my Open Studio at the foot of Ballard Down. The Mulberry Tree Gallery regularly displays my paintings, prints and cards and I’ve been commissioned to paint a number of pieces of work in oils, usually to capture a view of Purbeck that marks a personal milestone or celebration.
