Julie Herring is an Artist/Tutor whose work focuses on the natural world. With an appreciation of the English landscape, her inspiration for drawings, paintings and prints come from observing the design and beauty of natural forms, collected throughout the changing seasons.
Her collections are displayed at her studio and used as inspiration for her classes. She encourages students to observe and draw from life, where possible. With a background in Natural History Illustration and Fine Art painting, Julie also gained an MA in Museum Studies.
Having worked as a Gallery Educator and Curator for over 15 years, she is now a freelance artist who enjoys sharing her love of nature with students. Her indoor and outdoor classes and courses are run throughout the year, based on the seasonal landscapes, seascapes and English countryside. They are small and friendly classes that have proved to be an enjoyable and sociable activity. She also teaches sessions with local art groups and has worked with local communities and organisations including Dorset Wildlife Trust.
Julie’s own art includes watercolour and acrylic painting, drawings and relief printmaking.
