This is Purbeck. A Place unto itself. There is a wildness here which captivates, demands attention through all weather and seasons.
From initial drawings made on site, I will often re-invent the landscape, taking particular shapes from memory to fuse with reality to portray my surroundings.
My work therefore evolves as it develops using oils and charcoal.
“Everything we look at has a shape/structure, and Composition plays an integral part.
Colour and Harmony also inspire me.
The Geometry of things and the relationships of objects and their surroundings.”
Robert Amesbury-Brooke (influenced/taught by Euan Uglow).
The above quote resonates/echoes my own way of working in my interpretations of the Landshapes and Coastline of Purbeck.
