I am a Dorset artist and children’s book author and illustrator. My art work has been influenced by the beauty of the natural environment. The changing colours of the seasons are important, as well as the movement of the sea and the sky along the Dorset coastline. My paintings are in water-colours overlaid with pen and ink. In 2017, I was captivated by the patterns of a starling murmuration at Shell Bay in Studland and the mesmerizing result was on the front of PAW’s Events Programme last year.
At present, I exhibit at Purbeck New Wave Gallery, Swanage; where I steward with other local artists and work on my paintings. This year I have been studying the patterns in the local Jurassic coast rock formations, resulting in largely monochrome drawings embellished with watercolours.
My past career was a Primary School Teacher in Poole. This encouraged me to write and illustrate children’s books about taking care of our environment. These books are non-profit making as the proceeds go to Dorset’s local wildlife and countryside charities. They are for sale at local shops in the Purbecks.
