The inspiration behind this series of paintings ‘Where Sea Meets Land” comes from my travels around the world, especially the varying land and sea scapes, with their constantly changing patterns and forms where water meets the land.
The ideas formed like a birds eye view of the ever changing patterns and colours in the sea, rivers and estuaries.
The aerial aspect of looking down at the earth forms beautiful spiralling patterns and the colours of the land meeting the oceans make cool turquoise, purples, and blue hues which join the golden sandy umbered textures of the land, creating a marbling effect that can be seen from space.
As my work progressed, cells in the pigments started to form, like looking down a microscope at the very essence of nature itself.
The work itself is made up of a number of different acrylic mixed media, acrylic pigments, iridescent powders, fine gold silver leaf are added to the mixture and poured onto the canvas in a ‘drop pour’ technique.
My paintings are of total freedom and expression, each piece is completely unique in it entirety.
