I was motivated to get back into painting after moving to Lytchett Matravers. I was immediately inspired by the wildlife round me. Birds leaving feathers, fallen nests and sometimes, sadly, themselves. Butterflies and beach shells also became my subjects.
Attending a local art class improved my painting and widened my subject matter. Joining art clubs brought new inspiration, friendships and opportunities to show and sell my work. I belong to PEDAS who exhibit at The Gallery Upstairs, Upton Country Park.
Ideas come from holidays, architecture, light effects, other artists and books. The medium I choose depends on the subject or the effect I hope to create eg watercolour for details or loose washes and acrylic for bold seascapes.
I am also a craftmaker using recycled materials, including painted woven cardboard baskets, fabric bags, greeting cards and felt brooches.
Having recently built a garden studio and now with insurance in place, I will be opening to the public for PAW in 2019. A warm welcome awaits you. Lytchett has great views of Poole harbour and two pubs.
